i'll admit it, i've been terrible with updates on this thing.
i'm not quitting, i'm just in a lull. peaks and valleys.
as an apology i offer you these moments of peace

my mom's mother, my grandma gen, was an amazing quilt maker. after she passed on, my mom and her sisters found this unfinished quilt at the bottom of trunk. they don't know how old it is, but it's pretty amazing, right?
here's a closer look. i can't even begin to describe this. those blacks especially.
and closer still. i would never have the patience to make something like this. we're talking about thousands of stitches and pieces, put together by hand. i have memories of her and her buddies in the basement working on giant quilts together. most were auctioned off for benefits, but each of her grandchildren got one made especially for them. i am very grateful to have one in my life.

gosh dang it, i love the thrift store:
it's always hard moving to a new town. you can try to change who you are to fit in with a new crowd, you can isolate yourself, or you can start a butt-kicking band and really show those new kids how it's done. you ever seen footloose? it's like that. but NUCLEAR.
you are so welcome for the dove. i'd like to now thank you for making an entire album about the dove.
why was i not born 10-20 years earlier? things used to be awesome. like panty-hose lady over here and her little wicker chair. want to see what the panty hose look like? well check out this little window we cut in the package for you to see it through. and check out our font: these panty hose are trippy, son., in case you didn't know. also: NO PANTS WILL BE TOLERATED.
I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T BUY THIS.
this is some of my new sculpture. i call it "SPARKLE TREVOR"
i tease because i love.

and here's the last little bit of photos of mild interest from my trip to huntington beach:
john lucero walking up some stairs. they say he invented the slappy. don't they? his was the first skateboard graphic i saw that i was excited about. at the old n-orbit in downtown greenwood. preteen lurking, still.
i bought some of those danzig pencils but i'm afraid of what i might write.
russ interviewing rich for tv because rich is rad and russ is rad.
the templetons were right: it gets weird
two Ls, man. come on. i'm taking this straight to the top.
i can't stop thinking about this guy. i want to start a long correspondence.

i usually waste my time on airplanes reading and sleeping. sometimes i write things down. lately i have started drawing aimlessly and it feels good. remember how drawing feels awesome? maybe i needed some time away from playing to realize how good playing is. and then it turns into other things because that is where everything comes from and will lead back to in the end. here are some drawings i did on an airplane.
